Primary math tuition: building the foundation that everything else stands on

Primary mathematics starts gently and steepens fast. In Primary 1 math tuition and Primary 2 math tuition the work is number sense — what quantities mean, not just how to write them. By Primary 3 and Primary 4 math tuition, word problems turn multi-step and the model method becomes the tool that carries a child through.

Primary 5 math tuition is where the attainment gap most often opens, because topics stop being self-contained and start relying on earlier fluency. Primary 6 math tuition is then largely consolidation and examination technique for the PSLE. Classes are small, so a child who has gone quiet is noticed in the same lesson rather than in a report at the end of term.

Secondary math tuition: where algebra becomes the language

Secondary 1 math tuition is the year algebra stops being a topic and becomes the notation everything else is written in. Secondary 2 math tuition adds quadratics, simultaneous equations and proportion — and, under Full Subject-Based Banding, it is also where subject placement for upper secondary takes shape.

Secondary 3 math tuition is the hardest jump in the system for most students, because those taking Additional Mathematics begin two mathematics subjects at once and neither waits for the other. Secondary 4 math tuition is an O-Level year: very little is genuinely new, and almost everything depends on whether the previous three years are fluent enough to use at speed under examination conditions.

Junior college math tuition: H2 Mathematics at pace

Junior College 1 math tuition covers functions, sequences, series and introductory calculus — the foundation the second year assumes rather than revisits. Junior College 2 math tuition adds integration techniques, differential equations and the statistics half of the syllabus.

Our H2 math tuition assumes the A-Math toolkit needs to be automatic, not merely passed, and spends time there when it is not. Students arriving through the Integrated Programme take a different route to the same examination, and we teach both.
