Our Math Tutors

Guiding you to math confidence and success

Odyssey Math Tuition is a Singapore math tuition centre founded by Mr. Justin Tan (NUS Mathematics), who has taught math since 2012. Lessons are MOE-aligned and taught in small groups at Hexacube, 160 Changi Road #01-02, Singapore 419728 — about 3 minutes from Eunos MRT — with 24/7 e-learning support and a free trial.

Who stands at the front of the room decides almost everything about whether tuition works. Our tutors are led by Mr. Justin Tan as Principal Tutor, and every one of them is held to the same two requirements: genuine command of the subject, and the patience to find out what a student actually misunderstood instead of simply re-explaining louder. Qualifications are the easy half of that test.

Our tutors teach across every level — primary school, secondary school and junior college math tuition — and record the lessons inside our online e-learning system, so a student can hear the same explanation again at home. See schedules and fees.

Every class in our math tuition programme is taught in person at Hexacube, Eunos.

Mr. Justin Tan

Mr Tan teaches on one principle: understanding comes before practice. A student who drills questions they do not really understand is rehearsing their confusion, and it shows up in the marks — so the concept is explained in plain language first, and the technique only after it has landed.

Most students arrive having decided they are simply bad at maths. Usually they are not. A chapter went past too quickly, there was no comfortable moment to say so, and everything since has been built on that gap. Lessons are paced to leave room for the question a student is reluctant to ask, because that is almost always the one worth answering.

We also ask parents and students for feedback regularly, on the assumption that no teacher gets it right every time. We read it and act on it, so each class is a little better than the one before.

Joanne Tan Math Tutor Singapore

Joann Tan

Primary and Secondary Math Specialist (NUS Global Studies)
Joann, a teacher at OMT, brings over 10 years of tutoring experience and adopts a hands-on, student-centred approach to learning. Her lessons focus on developing practical skills such as problem-solving, collaboration, and peer teaching, moving beyond traditional classroom instruction to create a more engaging and effective learning environment. Her teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that students learn best through active participation. Inspired by the principles of Maria Montessori, she guides students on what they need to learn while giving them the space to explore concepts independently. By learning through doing and making full use of both class time and independent practice, students build deeper understanding and confidence. At OMT, this approach is supported by a well-structured environment with rich resources and experienced educators. Lessons are designed to encourage autonomy while ensuring students receive the guidance they need, allowing learners of different abilities to progress effectively at their own pace. Her goal is to create a supportive and engaging learning experience where every student can develop strong understanding and essential skills, empowered to take ownership of their learning journey.
Elena Chan, mathematics tutor at Odyssey Math Tuition

Elena Chan

Primary and Secondary Math Specialist (SMU Economics)
Elena Chan, an OMT tutor and graduate of Raffles Junior College, is dedicated to helping students build confidence in Mathematics through clear and structured guidance. Drawing from her own experience as a student, she understands how overwhelming the subject can feel when concepts are not fully understood. Her teaching approach focuses on breaking down complex ideas into simple, step-by-step explanations, supported by relatable examples that help abstract concepts make sense. By adapting her lessons to suit different learning styles and paces, she ensures that each student can learn in a way that is both comfortable and effective. Elena believes that confusion in Mathematics is often a matter of approach, not ability. With the right explanations and guidance, students can move from uncertainty to clarity and develop stronger problem-solving skills over time. Her goal is simple — to help every student turn “I don’t get it” into “Now I understand,” building both confidence and a solid foundation in Mathematics.
Amanda Loh - Math Tutor

Amanda Loh

Primary and Secondary Math Specialist (SMU Economics)
Amanda, an OMT tutor and graduate of Catholic Junior College, brings an engaging and student-friendly approach to Mathematics learning. Drawing from her own experiences as a student, she understands that tackling a maths question can often feel overwhelming and unfamiliar at first. Her teaching philosophy centres on making lessons both engaging and meaningful, creating an environment where students feel supported as they build confidence and curiosity. By tailoring her approach to suit different learning styles, she helps students navigate challenges step by step, ensuring that concepts are understood rather than memorised. Inspired by the ideas of Plato, Amanda believes that learning should be guided by interest and enjoyment rather than pressure. Her lessons are designed to make Mathematics accessible and less intimidating, encouraging students to stay motivated and actively involved in their learning. Her goal is to ensure that no problem feels too difficult, empowering students to overcome challenges with confidence while steadily improving in Mathematics.

Our Classes

Primary School

10 to 12 Years Old

Our primary school students are forming their first opinion of what mathematics is, and that opinion tends to stick. We build the fundamentals carefully and keep lessons enjoyable, so the subject stays something they are willing to try at.

Secondary School

13 to 16 Years Old

Our secondary school students meet topics that assume everything from lower secondary is already fluent. We shore up what is shaky, teach problem-solving as a method rather than a knack, and prepare them properly for the O-Levels.

Junior College

17 to 20 Years Old

Our junior college students face H1 and H2 Math, where the pace is relentless and the marks sit in the reasoning rather than the final line. We work on higher-level thinking, technique, and timed practice until a full A-Level paper feels manageable.

Step Into the Math-gical Journey

At Odyssey Math we call it a math-gical journey, and the magic is mostly just the moment something finally makes sense. Beyond solving equations, we want students to see why the mathematics works — the logic underneath it, and the odd satisfaction of a problem that comes out clean. Primary, Secondary and JC students all get there at different speeds, and that is fine.

Our Tutors

Building a strong team of passionate Math educators

At Odyssey Math Tuition, the right tutor changes everything about how a student experiences the subject — which is why we add to the team slowly and deliberately rather than simply to fill a timetable. Our tutors are chosen not only on academic credentials but on whether they can explain an idea three different ways and stay patient on the third.

Why Our Tutors Will Be Exceptional

Tutoring Experience

Mr Tan has been teaching mathematics since 2012, starting one-to-one tuition to fund his studies at the National University of Singapore. Over that time he has taught the full range — students who were failing outright, and students already scoring well who wanted the last few marks. Those two need almost opposite handling, and knowing which one is sitting in front of you is half the job.

It also means the whole syllabus is familiar territory rather than a level at a time. When a Secondary 3 student stalls, he can usually name the earlier topic responsible, which is faster than working through the current chapter again and hoping.

Because students forget things between lessons — everyone does — he recorded the explanations into a library of math videos that can be replayed at any hour. You can book a free trial class to see how he teaches before committing to anything.
