Why a question bank matters more than more video
An explanation tells a student how something is done. A question bank is where they find out whether they can do it. These are different events, and only the second one changes marks.
This is the reason the courses are not simply libraries of lessons. Every topic pairs an explanation with practice and a test, because the explanation is an input rather than the product.

The right order to use it in
- Attempt the question cold, before opening anything.
- Get stuck, and note precisely where.
- Watch the worked answer, comparing line by line rather than answer to answer.
- Find the first line that differs. That single line is the lesson.
- Redo the question from blank paper.
Students who reverse steps one and three feel productive and learn very little. The order is the whole method.
Using past-year papers well
The past-year school papers serve a different purpose from the topical questions. Topical work tells you whether you know a topic; a whole paper tells you whether you can deploy it under time, in unfamiliar wording, alongside everything else.
They are worth saving until the topical work is solid. Sitting papers early mostly measures the same gaps repeatedly, which is discouraging and uninformative.
How much practice is actually enough
The common question is how many questions a student should do per topic. The honest answer is that the number matters much less than the stopping condition.
- Stop when you can start any question of the type without hesitating. Hesitation is the signal, not the score.
- Not when the set is finished. Completing a set of twenty while guessing at six of them has built nothing.
- Not when it feels familiar. Familiarity arrives long before fluency and is the most common false signal in revision.
For most topics that means somewhere between eight and fifteen questions, spread across more than one sitting. A single long session produces recognition; two shorter sessions a few days apart produce recall, which is what an examination asks for.
Why worked answers beat answer keys
An answer key tells a student whether they were right. A worked answer tells them where they went wrong, which is the only actionable information.
This matters most on questions where the method is long. A student who reaches a wrong final value after eight correct lines has made one error, and an answer key cannot show which line it was on. A worked answer can, and the student learns something specific rather than concluding they are bad at the topic.
