Secondary 3 is where the O-Level syllabus actually begins
Sec 3 is the first year whose content appears directly on the O-Level paper, and students feel the change in expectation before they feel it in difficulty. Questions get longer, more of them combine two topics, and marks increasingly sit in the reasoning rather than the final line.
Papers from a spread of Singapore schools, hosted free by Odyssey Math Tuition, are the most direct way to calibrate against that standard early in the year rather than in September of Sec 4.
E-Math rewards reliability, not brilliance
E-Math is sat by the whole cohort, so it spreads wide rather than going deep. That changes the optimal strategy: a student who is excellent at quadratic equations and shaky on statistics will lose more marks than one who is merely competent at both. Sec 3 E-Math papers cover linear and quadratic equations, geometry, data interpretation, statistics and probability — and the fastest gains almost always come from the weakest topic, not the favourite one.

Using them well
Sit the paper to time, mark it without generosity, and record which topic each lost mark belonged to. That list is your revision plan, and it is far more useful than working through a textbook front to back.
