**Additional Math, is it difficult?**

Additional Mathematics is quite different from Elementary Mathematics. You still require the usual algebraic manipulation skills you have learnt in E Math to do A Math, but A Math has more formula to use. The way I see it, A Math is not difficult if you know when and how to apply the formula. That’s pretty much it. It might seem daunting at first, but it gets easier if you learn it the right way.

**Additional Math Syllabus**

Additional Math syllabus includes topics like Quadratic Functions, Equations and Inequalities, Surds, Polynomials, Partial Fractions, Binomial Expansions, Exponential and Logarithmic Functions, Trigonometric Functions, Identities and Equations, Coordinate Geometry in Two Dimensions, Proofs in Plane Geometry, Differentiation and Integration. The good news which I have mentioned earlier is that Additional Math is a very formula-based subject. You must be well-versed with the formula and apply them at the right place in order to do well in this subject.

**Challenges of Additional Math**

Based on my experiences teaching students taking A Math, they tend to struggle because they are more use to the style in E Math. For A Math, the concepts and questions are pretty different as compared to E Math. As I have mentioned earlier, A Math itself is a very formula-based subject. Students are not used to doing it this way. As such, they face challenges when it comes to when and how to use the formula. Moreover, being careful when using the formula is important as my observation is that students have the tendency to make common careless mistakes when using these formulas.

**Check In With Your Child From Time to Time**

Make sure your child is coping well with Additional Math. Ask your child if he/she is able to understand the concepts taught in school. If your child is unable to understand the concepts taught in school and the pace is too fast, it might be a good idea to send your child to A Math tuition.
